I think "A SHOT IN THE DARK" was recorded at CTS Bayswater and many of the music masters from that facility sadly no longer exist. That is indeed correct, Stephen. There were a handful of scores Mancini recorded at the original CTS site during this period, which he is said to have enjoyed doing so a great deal. Most of these have seen release in more recent times. Any "new" Mancini is always very welcome! Chris

Exactly ... ‘A Shot In The Dark Theme’ & ‘Shadows Of Paris’ I have in a 2004 CD compilation of RCA/BMG, ‘The Ultimate Pink Panther’, but of course, it's not the movie versions... (by the way, the beautiful ‘Shadows Of Paris’ is sung by Fran Jeffries, in the movie/film score). I also have a box of 2014, released by RCA/Sony, ‘Henry Mancini The Classic Soundtrack Collection’, with 9 CDs (18 soundtrack albums), which has the bonus ‘Meglio Stasera (It Had Better Be Tonight)’, original of the film, sung by Fran Jeffries. According to the new Blu-ray commentary on the Shout Factory edition of the films, it is an unknown singer, and most likely not Fran Jeffries. Does anyone know for sure?

Does the High Time Blue Ray also have isolated score like Experiment in the Dark? I found contradictory information. Also, are Peter Gunn and Mr. Lucky TV series possible? I presume the albums are also re-recorded? Gunn (1967) and Me, Natalie (1969) weren't mentionned, is this because those CDs are not a re-recordings? What about The Great Imposter (1961, comedy), Soldier in the Rain (1963, comedy), Dear Heart (1964, comedy), and especially Moment to Moment (1965, thriller)?

Peter Gunn and Mr. Lucky were re-recorded. Mancini expanded short cues to make them album length. "Gunn (Number One)" was also re-recorded for the album. "Me, Natalie" was one of Mancini's first albums taken directly from the film. I like this album except for all the dialogue by Patty Duke.

Distributors/Labels: what will be the next Mancini Film Score (Classic!) to be released? The Pink Panther (1963) A Shot In The Dark (1964) The Return Of The Pink Panther (1975) High Time (1960) Experiment In Terror (1962) Man's Favorite Sport (1963) Arabesque (1966) What Did You Do In The War, Daddy? (1966) The Party (1968) Darling Lili (1970) Mancini's "Summer Love, Early Mancini works", music under the direction of Joseph Gershenson, CD was released in Japan quite a few years ago. It contains 16 tracks. It's MVCM-22055. The notes are in Japanese so I can't give you any more info. Mancini's "Rock,Pretty Baby" was released on a Decca LP years ago also. Perhaps some label can dig these up for a new release. I understand his score to "Voice In The Mirror" was also considered for an LP release but it never happened. There may be other tapes of his early Universal work in the vault.

'Shadows Of Paris'....the singer... Really this is much discussed ... some say it was sung by Elsie Bianchi (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH25Baubkew). I particularly think it was sung by Fran Jeffries. Anyway, I always considered their voices very similar. Now, one thing I do not understand, in a world of so much Technology-DVD-BluRay-CD-Facebook-Informations-and the Devil on all sides, why did no one ask this to them while they were still alive????? It's late now, unfortunately they both passed away last year!
