Like most of the board, I've got a decent CD collection filled with many, many titles from our favorite specialty labels. I was just looking for some various opinions on which titles from over the years have the most informative/interesting liner notes?

Personally, I loved the expanded online-only notes from The Ron Jones Project... they really gave you the backstory on his thoughts for each episode and the constraints he was working under. Would have been awesome if that could have been included in the physical set, but I understand that the financial and logistical realities of producing would have made that tough. I'm glad FSM made it available online! smile

So what other set's notes did you particularly enjoy?

On a serious note, the ones that spring to mind are;
JEREMIAH JOHNSON (FSM)
BALLAD OF CABLE HOGUE (Varese CD Club)

The Ron Jones set is a great pick. All the FSM sets have great notes...

LaLaLand has done some great work too - I'm especially fond of the notes on The Edge.

Intrada ain't a slouch either. Love that they got someone to put so much work into a score like Malone!

I particularly loved the liner notes in LLL's Star Trek 50th Anniversary set - some great stories in there, and really appreciated the details into making the Animated Series score a reality.

I also have to throw some serious love to Intrada's JAWS - and how the new album presentation was put together.

But I also must say that just the inclusion of liner notes period wins the day. Hats off to the labels that actually give a damn.

Oh yeah, the Intrada JAWS CD. Fantastic notes and stills.
As said above, you generally can't go wrong with FSM and La La Land.
Intrada and Quartet are hella cool too!

Thanks for the opinions. I've always enjoyed Jeff Bond's liner notes for the Star Trek releases and would love to read his "Music of Star Trek" book, but it seems to be out of print. On Amazon it says it was published in 1999, so that would leave out the conclusions of Voyager, all of Enterprise, the JJverse, and now Discovery (along with talking about ALL of the incredible Trek CD releases we've gotten post-2000). Any chance of a reprint/updated version ever happening?

Jeff Bond (@lazymodeler) is on Twitter and back in July tweeted the following:

"Always nice to return from Comic-Con to a book offer."
9:58 AM - 24 Jul 2017

"Book deal update: I just negotiated for a 20% higher fee. I'm now officially done with being meek and humble."
12:28 PM - 24 Jul 2017

Whether this refers to another Music of Star Trek Book, or an update, or something new - I'm interested!
