A friend of mine just e-mailed me and told me he just watched Galaxy Quest, and it reminded me that I STILL can't find a clip online of the Chompers sequence that hasn't been altered from the original release when Sigourney Weaver says, "Well FUCK THAT"! Can anyone point me to a website that has the original version?

While that dialogue change is well-known, I believe it happened while the movie was still in post-production (and not yet finished), and as far as I know it's never actually been released with that original version of the line. There may never have existed a version of the movie that had that line and was otherwise complete.

Had the movie ever been released with the line, it should be a simple enough matter to look up info from the time of release on the MPAA rating and what material in the movie it received its rating for.

The post-production dub was in the original theatrical release print of the movie, and a very obvious one, at that. Maybe even more so on the big screen.

Anyone this obsessed with Galaxy Quest most definitely needs help.

Sorry, it's the Seth MacFarlane in me.

I'm pretty sure you can say the "F" word once in a PG rated film so the rating wouldn't necessarily be different with that line left in.

It would have gotten a PG-13 for that. There are a scant few PG films with "fuck" said in them, but it hasn't happened in a while.

It's not a film that needed an eff word. It's pathetic when they dump the one eff word in these films that are basically PG otherwise. I've only ever seen Galaxy Quest with it dubbed over.

Hope he got your consent.

I believe it's more as Nicholas_DW says, but whether it is or not, the MPAA ratings are generally explained with enough detail to establish whether that particular epithet is in there. That's what I meant when I suggested "info from the time of release", as opposed to simply "the original rating".

Well, that's my point... I DID SEE IT! It was on HBO not long after they started their first-run of the movie. That ONE scene is why I wanted to see the movie again. I mean, it's a very funny, clever movie... not the best movie in the world, but I fell on the floor, laughing my ass off when Sigourney said that!
