It looks as though the Sony KOK contains the Prelude with the all important choral signature theme. It is track 2 on the Sony, but appears to have an incorrect track length. Mine is 2:24, not 3:24 as on the Amazon pictorial rendering. Have they made a mistake in getting this one knocked out in haste? Even I could have made a better choice of cover design. Mine is the Rhino, not Ryko. Must be getting old, and yes, the sound is amazingly good for a non-boutique source. I too, had to compromise with the Sony Ben Hur, however, the sound on that version is pretty good. That means I often wonder what the FSM collection actually sounds like. My friend I would LOVE to find out. I just don't want to pay 160 US just for that. C'mon James and Tadlow!

Hang on, just noticed a commenter at Amazon has some criticism saying that although track 2 is called 'Prelude' it is not, and tracks something from somewhere else in the score. That explains why it is 3:24, not 2:24. What kind of compromise is that and why short-change people who, no doubt, like me remember it chiefly for that resounding opening? I wish I knew, my friend. I love that music. I just listened to the Sony for the first time and... well, it sounds real good! It's obviously truncated (there's still well over an hour of music), but I can see why at the time of its release it was considered the best restoration possible. They did a good job from that perspective, but one wonders why they didn't go the extra mile and throw on a second disc...it's ridiculous.

As long as its the music from the original score, that's better than nothing. You put it perfectly. But let's still keep a look out for Tadlow, some folks here (yes, ME!) have been getting on James about rerecording it. I don't know about you, but I'd fall all over myself scooping that up I just ordered the Private Life of Sherlock Holmes from Tadlow.

Picked up Batman vs Two-Face on CD at FYE. I was surprised to discover it wasn't a La La Land Records release anymore when I searched for it online after watching the movie (which I loved way more than the first Batman '66 animated movie). I usually order autographed copies from them for the ones I'm interested in. And when I got to the store, I discovered Batman and Harley Quinn on CD was also an FYE exclusive. I just re-watched that one after seeing the CD; didn't enjoy the entire score, just a few tracks and the main title. I may take some CDs to trade to pick up B&HQ, but I'm not in a rush for it.
