Check your newsletters. No price yet. I'm on the fence. It's a nice looking set, but the import fee... ugh.

I think (and I could be wrong, as I would not speak on behalf of anyone in the FSM community) a lot of us these days often wonder about some of Varese's releases (that rhymes!!!) and the logic behind some of their decision making.....and then something like this appears out of nowhere!!! For me---it's FANTASTIC, ORIGINAL and a great selection of titles!!! But it may just be me.... Varese's problem is that they've been in the game the longest and have the most prolific output of much-loved scores that were hampered by the restrictions of the time (30 minute albums, etc). Their current releases aren't any more random, obscure or sub-par than any of the other labels, but because they have the largest back-catalogue of stuff that people want to see improved, they get much more shit when it's not a 90s Goldsmith or an 80s blockbuster.

Now the key for me here - is Firestarter expanded? I would have said 'not a chance' a few months ago but then that expanded Miracle Mile score was released. Could be, but they made a point about DREAMCATCHER being expanded, so I'm leaning towards not.

What other soundtracks has Varese released from Stephen King inspired novels? Off the top of my head: Needful Things, The Dark Half, Pet Sematary, Thinner, Dolores Claiborne

Please, somebody enlighten me, because I still don't get Varese's logic these days. Why include a Deluxe Dreamcatcher in this kind of set, dammit?!! So, if someone is interested in that particular title only, if he wants to get it then he's forced to buy the whole set, and pay a higher price. Also, worst is that this ends the posibillity for this title to get a proper single CD release in the so called Deluxe series, as all previous JNH titles. Plus, what is the criteria for the titles sellected, I mean, why drop the expanded Dreamcatcher here, instead of say Christine, or any other of the many Stephen King titles that Varese has released before, in the same old-album fashion as Firestarter.

Higher priced collections that force the consumer to spend more money. (or miss out on a title they want) Extremely limited runs. No sound samples. You don't see these kind of high jinks from any other specialty label.

Well FSM did have that MGM (really UA) grab-bag Treasury box that a lot of people complained about at the time, and it was also limited to 1500 and sold out really fast -- it was the only FSM box I missed out on acquiring. Personally I would have been a lot more interested in this collection if it focused on primarily orchestral scores. An expanded/remastered Needful Things by Patrick Doyle, for instance. Still it looks like a cool set and I'll be interested to see the price tag. I'm a little confused by your complaint, solium, since the title you want is almost half the box, coming in at an impressive 3 discs -- maybe you should wait and see what the price tag is. Yavar

That´s a very nice package - although I would prefer them to sell the items separately.
