I received a $25 iTunes promotion code, but I don't own a smartphone, etc.
From what I've read, I can use iTunes to download music/movies/tv I chose to my PC Windows 10.

Two questions:
1. Has anyone used iTunes and Windows 10?
2. If I download iTunes to my pc, can I then burn the iTunes to a cd or dvd so it can be played on my cd player or dvd player?

(1) I use a Mac, but the software should work virtually the same way.

(2) By download “iTunes” I guess you mean can your burn downloaded music you purchased onto a CD or DVD? The answer is yes.

iTunes uses an Apple file format called m4a. You can burn a music playlist to disc. Though you would have to convert m4a files to mp3 if you want to make an mp3 disc.

You cannot legally burn television shows or movies to DVD. They are copy blocked. You should be able to stream television shows and movies right from the iTunes app on your computer.

Another question.
I'm thinking of downloading the iTunes directly to Windows 10 Media Player, then download from Windows Media Player to a cd-r so I can play the cd-r on my cd changer.

Any suggestions on the easiest way to do this?

Sorry I don't fully understand the question. I think your mixing terminologies and apps.

iTunes- Is an application that you can download and install on your Windows machine. (Comes pre-installed on a Mac) With the application you can import music, either from a CD or purchases downloaded from the iTunes Store.

Windows 10 Media Player- Is an application pre-installed on Windows machine. You can import music from a CD or play digital music stored on your computer. (Same as iTunes app other than I don't think you can buy and download digital music from the Media Player app.)

When you say, "I'm thinking of downloading the iTunes directly to Windows Media Player", do you mean download "iTunes music?"

If that is the case, I don't know if you can download iTunes music directly into Windows Media Player. Probably not. You download iTunes music from the iTunes store and it will be saved in your iTunes music folder on your computer. If you want to use Windows Media Player as your main music app, you will probably have to reformat the iTunes music into a music file Window Media Player can play.

On a side note if you purchase digital music from Amazon, you can import your Amazon music purchases right into iTunes.

When you said, "Then download from Windows Media Player to a cd-r ". By downloading I suppose you mean burn music to a CD-R? Again only if you convert the music to a file format Windows Media Player can read.

But thats all way to convoluted.

(1) Download and install "iTunes" app.
(2) Purchase digital music. Once you purchase the music the app will ask you if you want to download it now. Click yes.
(3) Make a playlist in iTunes.
(4) Right click on the playlist and choose burn to disc. Make sure in preferences you are making a "music disc" if your CD player can't play "mp3 discs".
(5) iTunes will ask you to insert a blank CD-R.
(6) Once you do that the app will burn your playlist to the CD-R. Pop it out and your done!

You should download iTunes and use that instead of media player. It will burn CDs for you. I don't have a lot of experience but I like iTunes more than media player. I burned Bladerunner 2049 to a cd from the Download. I love my iPod Nano and my Bluetooth speaker. Such a small thing holds all this music.

GUYS:

Thanks.
Let me clarify everything because all of this is new to me.
I got two $25 iTunes gift cards which expire around December 3 and 23.
I signed up for a free 3-month trial of iTunes, and it is now on my Windows 10 desktop.
I want to download the $50 worth of music to my pc and then later transfer the music to a cd (I don't have any cds right now). Then when the 3-month trial ends, I will have the iTunes music on cd and won't need to subscribe (i.e. pay) to iTunes anymore.

Does that make sense or am I missing something?

You have 3 months subscription to Apple music, you don't need to subscribe to Apple music to download iTunes App. I would still you iTunes for all my burning of CDs in the future. Think about purchasing a iPod. You won't have to lug all these CDs around.

You signed up for "Apple Music". That's a streaming service. You can't download music from the streaming service. You don't need or want that, cancel asap.

You apparently have iTunes app installed on your computer. Simply go into the iTunes store, purchase and download the content you want. Make sure you redeem your gift cards first so it's credited to your account.

Now I'm confused.

I clicked on the $25 promotion link and was sent here:

Promotion link: https://www.apple.com/itunes/

I signed up for the free 3-month trial period, but I did not get any email confirmation, ID/password, agreement, etc.
However, I did get the following.

My Startup says:
"Recently Added
About iTunes
iTunes
Apple Software Update"

When I click on the desktop iTunes icon, I get the following screens:

I guess we need to clarify what kind of gift cards you got. Did you get a standard gift card with money on it for iTunes purchases? Sounds like you got an "Apple Music" gift card, which means you have $50 dollars you can apply towards their streaming service.

To buy music, by credit card or iTunes gift card, you need to click where it says "Store". (Right now you are in "Browse" which is in blue. The streaming section of the app.) Search in the store for the music you want to purchase and download.

Here's the description of "Apple Music". (FYI, one correction you can download music from " Apple Music" but you can only play it as long as your subscription is active. But you won't be able to burn the music to disc.

Apple pioneered the idea of buying music online, but until recently their focus has been selling song-by-song downloads via iTunes for 99 cents to $1.29 each. With Apple Music, you pay a flat $10 a month to listen to any of the songs in its catalog. The songs or albums can stream to your computer, iPhone, or iPad over an Internet connection, or you can download them to play directly from your device. But you’re renting, not buying. Even if it’s on your phone or computer, the songs from Apple Music won’t play if you let the subscription lapse. (Music you bought on iTunes is still yours, though.)

Remember-

"Apple Music" is a monthly music streaming subscription service.
"Store" is where you can buy music and videos. You can stream them, download them to your computer, and in the case of music burn them to CDR's. No subscription required. (You should need to set up a username and password though.)

Did you redeem those two $25 dollar promotion codes? If so you should see $50 dollars credit on your account. Go to "store", search for the music you want, purchase them, then download.

If that doesn't help, then I guess you will need to contact costumer support and explain your intentions.
It's difficult to understand what you've done up to this point without seeing it.

SOLIUM:

No, I haven't redeemed the codes.

To repeat what I've done:

1. I clicked on the $25 code and got the website link listed above.
2. I signed up for the apple free 3-months trial, but have not received any email confirmation concerning passwords, credit card, etc., but that led me to the website with the 2 screen shots posted above.

So are you saying I should have stayed on the website that was linked to the $25 promotion card and should not have signed up for the free 3-month trial with apple?

Your not on a website, you are in the iTunes application. I don't know how you could install the app and not have to provide username and password.

As I said, go to the link on the right of "Browse". it says "Store". On the top right corner it will say "Redeem", here you redeem your codes. There's also a links for "Account" and "Support".

I would like to trade these two $25 iTunes promotion codes for an Amazon gift card, so I'll post this in the Trading Post section.
