Japanese label Cinema-kan will be releasing a three CD box set of music from Daiei’s Yokai Trilogy!
Titled Daiei Yokai Trilogy Original Soundtrack (CINK-40-41-42), this remarkable set will feature the scores to “Yokai Monsters: 100 Monsters” (“One Hundred Yokai Stories”, 03/20/1968), “Yokai Monsters: Spook Warfare” (“Great Yokai War”, 12/14/1968) and “Yokai Monsters: Along with Ghosts” (“Tokaido Haunted Journey”, 03/21/1969). Music by Chumei (Michiaki) Watanabe (“100 Monsters” and “Along with Ghosts”) and Sei Ikeno (“Spook Warfare”)!
While Sei Ikeno’s score to “Spook Warfare” had releases back in 2004 and 2013 by Japanese label Salida, this box set will be the first release of Michiaki Watanabe’s scores to “100 Monsters” and “Along with Ghosts” since 1992! All three scores will be digitally remastered. This box set is available for pre-order at Amazon Japan, ARK Soundtrack SQUARE and HMV Japan, and will retail for ¥7,560 (Approximately $66.33).
