How about his hilariously understated turn as the head of the Lambda-Lambda-Lambda Fraternity U.N. Jefferson in REVENGE OF THE NERDS! (Side Note: It's also strange thinking of the bastard Sheriff's Deputy Galt in FIRST BLOOD as the director of CLEOPATRA JONES—Jack Starrett, pretty versatile guy!)

Bernie Casey tried his hand at television again as part of the ensemble cast of 1983's "Bay City Blues." The Bay City Bluebirds were a minor league baseball team in California. Players varied from young hopefuls to once-great players who were sent to the minors before retirement. Story lines revolved around the players' lives, loves, and problems. The cast of "Bay City Blues" featured the then-unknowns Sharon Stone, Mykelti Williamson, and Dennis Franz. Casey played a washed up coach, "Ozzie Peoples." Scheduled opposite ABC's "Hart to Hart" and CBS's "Tuesday Night Movies" (the #25 highest rated show of the season), "Bay City Blues" drew poor ratings and was pulled from NBC's lineup after airing only four of the eight episodes that were produced. The four remaining episodes were aired by selected affiliates in two-hour blocks on Sunday July 1 and Sunday July 8, 1984, after the local news broadcasts. The prime-time run ended up ranking 88th out of 94 programs, averaging only a 10 percent household rating. Bernie Casey (bottom row, left) and the cast of "Bay City Blues"

In John Carpenter's IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS, Sam Neill plays "John Trent," a no-nonsense insurance investigator who loves his job and has disdain for most of humanity--but with a sense of humor. He's sent to find missing mega-selling author "Sutter Caine" (Jurgen Prochnow). Bernie Casey plays Trent's boss, "Robinson." The 1995 film's score, by Carpenter and Jim Lang, was released by DRG.

Tim Reid, one of the stars of the television show "WKRP in Cincinnati," directed the 1996 memory piece ONCE UPON A TIME ... WHEN WE WERE COLORED. Much of the story is told through the eyes of a young boy named Cliff (played at different ages by three actors), who is raised by his great-grandparents (Al Freeman Jr. and Paula Kelly). Bernie Casey had one of 83 speaking parts in the cast, playing "Mr. Walter." Paul Buckmaster's score for the film did not get a release.
