I have to wonder (and the notes don't explain it) about the wisdom of emulating sound effects with the music, given that those sound effects would be part of the film's soundtrack anyway. I guess this way they were integrated more tightly with the music, but would that work against the visuals?

Yeah.
Unless the director planned on using them in place of conventional sfx.
Tracks like "Tiger Tiger" are superfluous.

Arrivee!
26 page booklet!

You know there's a Compact Disc with music on it, right? frown
I'm playing it right now. Weird creepy stuff. Wish there was a way to integrate it into the movie. smile

Use it as music accompanying the audiobook of HEART OF DARKNESS

Awesome cover art. I wish Jim could have used official images or things related to the film, but Zoetrope was very particular in this matter.

That said, what Jim did do is incredible IMHO.

As for unused scores -- we have released a few over years...Breakdown, Used Cars...I may be forgetting some.

Rejected and un-used scores from LLLR's:

"Apocalypse Now"
"Breakdown"
"First Love"
"The Golden Child"
"Jennifer 8"
"The Rat Patrol"
"The Woods"
"Used Cars"

EDIT:

And in early 2016 MV said:

Yes, one legendary one and possibly two "partial" ones

MV

When I last asked recently, he didn't remember any rejected scores coming. I assume "Apocalypse Now" was the "legendary" one.

If you mean the helicopter sounds in the first track, maybe the cue accompanied credits, not movie content.
