Anyone knows if there will be a release of Dario Marianelli's romantic score for last year 'Ali and Nino'? I would say it's one of his best's, the love theme is beautiful and there is an action piece that is fantastic. And the final act, very deep and dramatic, is heartbreaking. I wish Varese or Quartet for example does release it in the near future.

By the way, the film is directed by his long time collaborator Asif Kapadia (The Warrior, Far North, Amy) and it's easy to find in youtube.

Here you can listen to the End Credits main theme:

This is an excellent epic score. First rate Marianelli at his best. Really warrants a release. I keep checking for it. When I saw the film at a festival, I had no idea who scored it, but kept thinking this is a magnificent score. I thought maybe it's a Gabriel Yared score? Then was delighted when the credits came up at the end to find it was Dario. Somebody's got to put it out there

That's exactly what it is, I completely agree with you, I really believe it deserves a release. When I watched the movie I was aware that the music was composed by Marianelli, but I did also think of Yared probably as a reference, in fact Marianelli has mentioned on several interviews that Yared is one of his favourites contemporary film composers (together with Alberto Iglesias).

Why exactly it should be Quartet releasing this?
Do they have any connection to Marianelli or Air-Edel?

There are other labels who do...

I only said it in jest- I am aware that other label could do this...

You are right, probably Varese or MovieScore Media would have better options knowing they've done it before, but I agree I would love to see the first Dario Marianelli release by Quartet Records, label that supports many european composers. It's never late for a first time, and this would be a great Marianelli score to start with, don't you think?

definitely... I am sure Quartet would do a great job with this one and if they finally stopped with the digipack nonsense once and for all...

If this is supposed to happen it would be far more likely if someone directly approached Mikael Carlsson or perhaps Varese with either their LImited edition series or their titles nobody asked for series.

Or perhaps someone had already tried and there is no interest of it happening (eg Matilda)? Or it is a licencing nightmare with many different production companies spread across multiple countries...

I completely agree, and now you say it probably that is the case ("many different production companies spread across multiple countries"), I never thought about it, but it makes perfect sense knowing the trubles the movie faced.

According to IMDB it's just one small production company so that won't be the problem in this case... Probably either nobody tried or they are not interested.

Too bad Marianelli isn't more easier to reach so we could just ask him....
