Hi All,

It all builds to my round-up of the Best Scores, Runners-Up and Composers to Watch of another year covering notable releases at Filmmusicmag.com! Check out my list, headed up by Alexandre Desplat's lovely score to THE SHAPE OF WATER, and read about the impressive releases and musicians of such scores as THE LOVERS, COLOSSAL, WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO, MEAN DREAMS, THREE BILLBOARDS, BRIGSBY BEAR and many more at:

http://www.filmmusicmag.com/?p=18353

Thanks as always for following my review round-ups and composer interviews at Filmmusicmag.com

I honestly didn't see Last Jedi before my Deadline (as I suspect many internet critics weren't able to). But I have seen and heard pretty much everything else. I thought the Post was a decent score for a vastly overrated film. It's certainly leagues better than his disappointing work in the awful Force Awakens, but not as good as Book Thief. Score is sparingly used, and there's one really good "hot off the presses" cue. But the film really could have used more music for what's essentially a series of breakfast meetings.

Thanks Ryan. I don't picked based on sex, creed or color. But the talent and music that impressed me the most this year.

Absolutely. I just hope that in the years to come more women are given the opportunity to score more films. Don't ever stop selecting the scores that impress you. smile

I agree with this more than you know! wink That being said, The Lovers' beautiful score by Mandy Hoffman is in my top ten. As is Gook by Chinese-American Roger Suen. I'm glad they were given the opportunity!

Um, I don't think you have to "remind" Daniel about women composers. We all know who Penka Kouneva is... right?

Indeed. Thanks McCurry. So much appreciate you checking out my columns, let alone buying albums based on them. Means a lot!
