The Arista Box and the original LP are excellent listens, but they use, in some cases, the wrong takes/edits of certain cues ("Main Title", "Jawa Sandcrawler", "Ben Kenobi's Death and TIE Fighter Attack"). You need the Special Edition expanded versions to hear the scores as they appear in the films, although many complain about the mixes. They sound fine to me. But if they were remastered and remixed, I'd definitely be up for getting them....

All of the Star Wars films clearly need to be remastered and expanded (where applicable), so we have complete recordings with the best possible sound. This is definitely true of Episodes 1, 2, and 3 also. The films may have been mediocre, but they contain a lot of memorable music. So, in an age where many mediocre films with ho hum scores are being remastered and expanded, it is a no brainer that the most popular orchestral film scores of all time get the deluxe treatment. However, the best time to do it is probably after the release off Episode 9, assuming Williams does that score. Then a set of all nine complete and remastered scores would be the biggest and most important film music release of all time.

Thanks for replying to my query. Yes, these are the ones I have, in addition to the Arista box set. It must be the latter's mixes that seem to be more representative of the sound from the films than the black slip cased CDs.
IV through VI (assuming the elements are salvageable at all) are in definite need of a proper comprehensive overhaul. The problem with the prequels is, due to the extensive tracking done to those films, its a bit hard to determine how much material was actually written for them and recorded (and subsequently thrown out in the editing room). Like say you're expecting the new CD to include the Battle of Geonosis which the Sony single of AOTC left off only to discover that...oh John Williams never actually wrote anything for the battle of Geonosis because it was all tracked with music written and recorded for Phantom Menace....huh.
