Are the Limited Editions limited editions of newer scores—like those that came out in the past few months? And Club Editions all that back-catalogue goodness like the Goldsmiths, the Poledourises, the Trevor Rabins?

Yep! The limited editions cover mostly recent scores to television and smaller movie productions
I wish one of these was HHhH by Guillaume Roussel. He mentioned at his Facebook site a couple of months ago that Varese will release the album but so far it has only been released as a digital download. I really liked that music.
One of these may be for Austin Wintory's score to Rendezvous - one of the artists [Angela Bermudez]he's been collaborating with over the past year tweeted these images which to me look like a Varese CD - there's no Wintory CD listed as upcoming on Amazon.com on their regular line, and this film is small enough to fit the limited edition bill I think:

I second that and both music and movie are good...Varese released the download so hopefully a CD will be announced.........the movie in UK is called : The man with the iron heart and released on BD/DVD on Monday....
You really have to be hardcore into CDs to buy The Rendezvous for $15 when you can get a lossless download from Austin Wintory's bandcamp for $5. It is quite a good soundtrack though with a lovely main theme.
Also Mully hits the right emotional notes but is completely simplistic in orchestration. Glad the full scores are now often on Spotify before the CD releases.

Some people just like CDs. It's not really about being 'hardcore'. In the video game world these days there are limited edition physical runs of indie games being printed, sometimes years later, for quite a lot more than the digital versions -- sometimes these get snatched up so fast even people who are on top of it can't get them.
