I guess it all comes down to how an artist's personal "peculiarities" affect your appreciation of their work. Some seem to have immunity from their "indiscretions" while others are pariahs.
How often do you hear "Rock and Roll Part 2" played at ballgames anymore? Yet Polanski is still held in fairly high regard by many.

Interesting that so many artists with troublesome sexual proclivities are men.

Back to Allen, I really never cared that much for what little of his work I've seen anyway. Mostly for me it came off as too neurotic.

That's what made him so funny. That was his shtick. Though if a similar talent did that today it would probably annoy me.

Yes it does seem that men are more likely to be called out for pedophiliac behavior--there is definitely some cultural baggage associated with men acting as predators in Hollywood that enforces the stereotype. I'm sure there are many women with creepy tendencies that we don't hear about because it's considered indecent or maybe they are better at hiding their proclivities?

Quite probably correct.
Additionally, women predators seem far less newsworthy, so it stands to reason that they may simply not be reported-upon as much.

Since the internet and 24hr news programs have become common Ive heard far more cases of women having sexual relations with underage boys than the other way around. So yeah, double standards.

I'm confused. Huh? One member says women are not reported as much and the other member says he has heard far more cases about women. So that is a double standard? I'm am confused.

I've read about female teachers being fired for having relationships with their students. Glad they are fired. Lets hope any pedophiles, regardless of gender, get nailed.

The reporting, in the media, of these crimes perpetuated by women compared to men is a reflection of our poor media and what they think is salicious and 'sells. 'It is not a reflection on the numbers behind the headlines.

What is a fact is that female sex offenders receive lighter sentences for the same crimes than males, and that includes pedophiles.

"Nailed" was probably not the best word to use there. wink The moral outrage isn't the same though thankfully the law has been applied evenly (when it comes to prosecution) as far as I've seen and heard.

Anyway, we're all way off topic. I reserve my moral outrage for people who are actually guilty of horrible behavior not people who I find creepy. I guess that's my point.

There seems to be a misconception as to what a "pedophile" is. Pedophiles are attracted to children, which means PREpubescent. An 85 old geezer who is shagging up with a hot 15 year old teenager may be doing something wrong and depending on where you live illegal, but it is unrelated to pedophilia.
