Bumping again.
It's never going to be too late to add something.

Feed me, Seymour, feed me!

I have a transcription of McCartney's bass line from "I Feel Fine".
If you handle it!

Hmm, I think I recall some shade being cast over McCartney's playing the other day.
One of the Quincy threads, I think?
Anyway, while Sir Paul is not one of my bass heroes, I do think his playing is melodic and frequently inventive--within the context of "the pop song", I hasten to add.
To compare him to jazz players is not the same soccer field.
My jazz preferences are pretty much Monk and Coltrane, so maybe I'm not qualified to have an opinion on jazz bass--but the unsophisticated layman could be forgiven for thinking that jazz playing in general is several guys in a room whacking off in front of each other.
Until that bug gets a hold of them, that is. big grin

Actually, that's a pretty apt description!

Here's a demo reel with brief scenes from "Fallen":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlgrjUH_84A

  • 0:06-0:08
  • 0:13-0:16
  • 0:42-1:00 *
  • 1:31-1:41 *
  • 1:56-1:58 *
  • 2:03-2:06

    * = Contains pieces from the trailer I scored.

I also -- for fun -- scored a couple scenes that used to be up to watch. Parts of those are in there, too. Those two cues are not up for hearing.

    Composers' Challenge IX:

I also, in a few days, hope to have up a cue where I re-created the opening of a track by Delerue and then took the theme in the direction I thought it should go. Can't recall the name of the film, but it was paired with another score by him, on Music Box Records.

I must have missed this thread originally. I'll go back and listen to the samples. I did just lîsten to your composer's challenge track, Justin, which I enjoyed. Nice stuff.

    Very nice, indeed, Marko.
I find it a very cinematic piece, and to me that aspect lends it a more memorable quality.

    Please keep sharing.

I have like three or four cues for that "Fallen" short film I mentioned in earlier posts in this thread, that I realized were just sitting there, so I decided to put up two that were good enough to put up.

Demo cue done to try and talk Dan into letting me do the music:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdnPZbs5nXI

In this cue, violent protestors are fighting the police. The hero shows up, fights them, stops it. A kid calls out to the hero, who's long since apparently become apathetic, and the hero just keeps walking away.

Cue done with the theme for no demo purpose, just for the hell of it, with a loose inspiration from a counterpoint idea from a TV movie score by Dennis McCarthy:
