You two guys speak like old literature.

What you really mean, Thor, is some of us sound like old farts. Well, to some of us, a spade can only ever be a spade. The difference is the older generation aren't telling the younger generation how to use a spade - they quietly assume everyone has common sense.

That's a compliment.

You can try to change the mode of expression, but those archetypal myths like Snow White, which exists in many forms worldwide, are deadly serious in terms of what they reach subliminally. The stories don't change. If you throw out the story with its style, you're losing the baby with the bathwater.

You can't break the rules until you know them., y'know.

It's mainstream psychology. We teach kids these stories as if they mean nothing, then watch those same kids mess up.

It appears that Ms. Deneuve has changed her opinion.

As a matter of fact, I do.

As a matter of fact, so do about half a dozen people in the thread above you, including little old me. I always think it's polite to read first.

I think Deneuve was on to something the first time.
I'm not sure why she felt she had to clarify anything for the MeToo crowd, but it looks like a lot of people are interpreting that as a reversal/apology.
I don't think an apology was necessary because she didn't attack anyone in the first place.
The way I see it, she just came to the defense of men in general.

Is it getting to the point where defending the gender makes one the enemy?

It appears you take pleasure in openly berating people. I'll let that pleasure be yours and will no longer respond to your comments.

No, I just noticed that you hadn't actually read the thread, but leapt to tell us something which would counter the main argument, despite the fact that we'd been talking about her change of mind for the last six posts. Which meant you were a little more interested in proving us wrong than knowing what we said.

In a work environment, my father used to tell me "never dip your pen in company ink." Nowadays this advice is probably more relevant than ever.

Oops.

That's what I was thinking. Whatever are they going to do now that THE casting couch is a thing of the past?

For the most part, not a thing--because most women know that the instinct for sexual pursuit is in the male DNA.
They just have to wait us out.
big grin

(Unless you meant that "they" are the men involved. In which case--I have no idea!)

I suppose from now on they will just have to whistle while they work. Oops. On second thoughts, maybe they shouldn't do that. Plato rules.

Here is the full English translation of the letter that Deneuve and others signed:

Thought it might be helpful for those who have only read snippets in news articles.
