I've always been a fan of great and admirable cinematography, sometimes when the landscapes are 'painterly', and sometimes when small, intimate scenes are simply gorgeously lit. I played the Blu-ray of the recent film, 'BREATHE' a couple of nights ago and was taken aback by the beautifully composed scenes within the film. Their are scenes at the beginning set in Africa, (I've forgotten which country exactly), that evoked the majesty of David Watkin's work in 'Out of Africa'. The films, 'J.F.K.', 'THE AVIATOR', and 'HUGO' have all won Oscars for this man. Hopefully, if the Cinematography Branch has done all their homework, this film should be among the 5 Nominees, in an already crowded field this year.
