When did this happen?
I see so many people now writing AM when they mean I AM or I'M, that I think it must be accepted or used in schools.
Me no like.

Am I to assume you don't like "axe you something" either? ;-)

Neither of those are as aggrieves -- in my opinion -- as people saying "fur" instead of "for".

Am not sure what you're talking about.

Could it be a confusion with when Scots porridge oaters say "Ah'm nae sure whit ye're talkin' aboot"? I've been guilty of writing stuff like that right here on this here bored. (P.S. - "Ah'm" is pronounced "Am").

Or is it simply that people now say, and write, "Am not sure what you're talking about"?

Please clarify. "Love? What is love? I have never heard that word before, despite being an android programmed with 200 billion vocabulary components covering all regional dialects of 14 million languages. Kiss? What is kiss? It is what you do to me now? I think I begin to understand".

Look - Justin’s got me on ignore!

If five people had already pushed the button on me, he’d be the “sickth”, according to almost all UK newsreaders.

Am not a fan of s*** w***. wink

Kev, probably evolved from text speak. That is the problem with short cuts - it eventually becomes the norm for people who dont know the difference.

Hey Tg - we could try an on ignore tally race?! I reckon AM way in front, easy. smile

Seems the tendency nowadays is to dive in verb-first, disregarding both the "I" and the "am" (or in this case, the "it").

And I thought "am" was the verb ...

Actually I think some of this began back during the days of telegrams. Just saying "AM" and eliminating the subject "I" reduced the word count and lowered expenses.

What really galls me is that "text speak" (e.g., U for you and R for are) is finding its way into other forms of writing. I wonder what written English will look like in 50 years.

I couldn't agree more.
The tech (or the fastest way of using it, I should say) is enabling stupidity to flourish.

Look - Justin’s got me on ignore!

You wish. ;-)

I was just combining the two. I actually had the idea typed out and ready to post before you did, but I canned it. Then you added "axe" very shortly after and that made me re-think it.

I got seven people on ignore. Almost added an eight a few days ago because of some numbnuts and his comments about a label.....
