So before I release THRILLER 2 by Jerry Goldsmith...and before I tackle Miklós Rozsa's KING OF KINGS...I have the privilege of making new recordings of 2 complete scores by James Bernard! So to get in the mood I am enjoying a very bloody stake (sic) at the very best Steak House in Prague...the score that dripped blood! I was so fortunate to record his very last score in Prague a few years ago...
I don't even have to wait to see what the titles are to know I'm in!

James already mentioned that the scores are Dracula and Curse of Frankenstein in the King of Kings thread, so there’s no need for speculation.

James Bernard scored a few Dracula films. Which one will Tadlow be recording ?

I would assume he's recording "Horror of" (which was also released as Dracula in the UK). Here's James' quote for posterity's sake:
Just so people do not need to speculate...on my wish list are Dracula/the Curse of Frankenstein, The Vikings, Night of the Hunter, Jesus of Nazareth.....that's it...for now. I definitely will not be doing Black Patch or Face of the Fugitive...historically interesting Goldsmith scores but not particularly interesting musically....Spartacus....would cost twice as much as K of K and not a chance in he'll of even covering a small part of budget...and not really inclined to do any Herrmann as a sales disaster re Obsession.....but I can always be persuaded otherwise if enough people want to contribute their hard earned dosh! But for scores I love then I will fork out 50% of the total budget....but for others the "fans" will have to fun it 100%!!!
Stephen, thanks so very much for passing on this wonderful news. And thank you James Fitz for your effort.

"Dracula" [aka Horror of Dracula in the U.S.] (1958).
Personally, I always felt Bernard's first three Dracula scores were his best, with the first, perhaps his magnum opus and his third, Dracula has Risen from the Grave (1968) a very close second.

We are close to agreement...I find Dracula Has Risen to be the pinacle. Taste and Scars have good love themes but the rest seemed more workman like. Maybe he lost inspiration after the third.
For obscure Bernard that is quite good check out The Gorgon.
From a distance on the tiny screen of my phone I read this thread title as “Two new James Bond scores coming from C3PO” and while that made no sense whatsoever my excitement level still shot through the roof.
But hey, I like James Bernard too so it’s still good news.
I am also up for these two great James Bernard scores! This could be another good year Peter and Cody with the eh, Max Steiner big announcement due, ahem, and also a possibility of Way Of A Gaucho being released..."things are looking up"!

Yes indeed Niall. Jan. 2017 you said we would get many Golden and Silver Age CDs and you were right. 2018: Max Steiner, Sol Kaplan, James Bernard and ? Bruce has mentioned Golden Age Fox scores, I hope he will be able to do them. And there are always surprises ......
YouTube has the original and longer ending to Dracula (1958). Quite gory for the 1950s.
"The Vikings" was also mentioned above by James. That would be superb! Hopefully, his non-mention of Moross' "The War Lord" was just temporary forgetfulness on his part and he'll soon remember he needs to give that the Tadlow treatment too.
I have only a fraction of the collections of folks on here, but every so often a real gem comes along that is impossible to ignore and this is one such occasion. I love the collections Silva did of Bernard's music, but I always remember being disappointed with his selection of the more stately Prince of Darkness Dracula theme in the suite he put together from both films, instead of the driving beat from the original.

It was the suite from Taste the Blood of Dracula on the old Silva collection that made me fall in love with Bernard's sound world - probably because I adore the love theme and it's tragic turn at the climax. (Also it was the first Lee Dracula film I saw as a kid in the theater, so it's kind of an involuntary favorite.)
So I can't hear a word said against it (though I skipped the full release years later even when SAE suggested it to me, because I thought the suite enough). But if you're going to record Bernard scores anew, the original Dracula and Curse of Frankenstein are the two to do.
