Rosetta Records has been releasing scores at a good clip. I have purchased Jorge Aliaga's- Shadow Girl and am going to jump into more soon. Does anyone from Rosetta or any other Spanish film/score fans care to contribute to this thread? Has anyone bought any Rosetta releases and have recommendations?

There was a big controversy about 'MONSIGNOR QUIXOTE' release. It was publicited as "remastered" but apparently sounds worse than the previous release. A pity because the score is outstanding.

I bought several Rosetta CDs and I must say I like them all very much. Till far my personal favorites are The Garci/Cervantes Anthology, Red de Libertad, and The Chess Player. These are "traditional" orchestral scores.

If you are more into the "modern sound design" thing then you will like Realive. On the other hand are the "more experimental" Reliquias and A Common Enemy.

They have samples on their web you can check. Plus worth mentioning is that their design presentation is impeccable.

Damn! That sounds disappointing, I have that release coming in the post! I have the DVD. I have long liked the film.

Um, I'm not sure what you are talking about regarding Monsignor Quixote release. It sounds wonderful to me, but I don't have dog ears. I am enjoying the CD score very much at this moment.

Unfortunately, this new Rosetta CD of MONSIGNOR QUIXOTE is only in mono whereas both the old Red Bus LP and CD from the 80s were in stereo. The sound quality was also better on that first release if you have the chance to compare both.
So it is a real puzzle what happened with this new release or if Rosetta just got the wrong tapes.

Damn! That's a bit of a cheat. If I had known this in advance no way would I have ordered it. They have lost a customer for the future now. I wouldn't buy anything they release ever again. I wish there was a way of getting a refund!

Not having seen this thread back in 2018, I ordered the Rosetta CD from Japan (about $33 with shipping). The sound is horrible. It is loaded with pops and crackles. What a piece of shite. I am more than pissed-off.

This score by Garcia Abril is one of my all-time favorite soundtracks. Now I have to see if Ark Square will allow me to return it for a refund. Meanwhile the Red Bus edition is just way too much to afford.

MONSIGNOR QUIXOTE needs a new release. Here is hoping Quartet Records can do their magic.
