I don't know what Psytrance or Goa are. Sounds like Godzilla villains. But in other words, trance!
And it is dated. It was a very popular sound that was infused in our music culture, and now is generally dismissed. The fact it survives in small circles is besides the point.

Perhaps tread with an OUNCE more humility if it's a territory you know little about?

Goa was never a mainstream genre, and is still popular as the subculture phenomenon it always was. Hence it is not dated. In fact, there are new forms of it. If it had been more mainstream trance (or similar genres in the rave and post-rave periods), it would have been a different matter.

I started to type in Goa in YouTube and it auto filled with Goa Trance. So in other words, trance! It was a popular sound in clubs at the time and was infused in The Matrix movies. It was the "rave" back then. Where it stands now in music culture I will bow to your wisdom.

Again, trance comes in many different shapes and forms. It has a myriad of sub genres. Some, especially the more mainstream variants, are more closely tied to the period. Others, like psytrance and goa, are more detached and aren't as easily dated -- even if Goa in its original form had its heyday in the late 90s and early 2000s.

What you hear in MATRIX REVOLUTIONS is not dated. And especially not when merged with Davis' soundscapes -- which is at the cutting edge of orchestral writing.

The only way you could say that the score is dated, is that you rarely hear this kind of edgy orchestral writing in action and genre films anymore. Still happens, but usually in smaller scale (like Mica Levi's UNDER THE SKIN, for example).

Are you referring to music culture on Earth or that strange far off land you live? Cause every red-blooded American knows the Unites States is Earth.

BTW I also picked up MATRIX REVOLUTIONS in the sale.

It was a joke! Self deprecating humor.

As you should know, I have no sense of humour.

I might pick up MATRIX REVOLUTIONS and/or X2: X-MEN UNITED next weekend.

Not sure why I haven’t gotten those yet.
