I finally ordered this one. I think this period was the best for Zimmer. Good to finally have an official track from Bird On A Wire on CD, although the full score is still sadly unreleased.
Sound clips are sounding fine, showing that Dominik Hauser is a good arranger. Would of course wanted original versions but this is the next best thing.
Anyone else having bought this?

Played through the CD. First of all, the album is only 59 minutes, they could easily have included 20 more minutes of music. Scores like House Of The Spirits, Cool Runnings, Toys, A League Of Their Own, Radio Flyer, K2, Regarding Henry, Fools Of Fortune, Paperhouse, The Zero Boys, Castaway, Insignificance and White Fang were not included.
The versions are mostly OK, but some of them don't have the power of the originals, A World Apart sounds a bit tinny for example. The Going For Gold theme must be one of Zimmer's most embarrassing moments. Bird On A Wire is very good, mostly because there is not an official release to compare it to. Younger And Younger and Pacific Heights are also welcome inclusions, as it reminds me of the CDs I once owned...

I don't have this album, but it's on Spotify.
I'm not familiar with all of Zimmer's earlier scores, such as A World Apart, Black Rain (for some reason), Pacific Heights, Young And Younger, etc., so can't say so much about those.
But the ones I know rather good, for instance Rain Man, Days Of Thunder, Green Card, Backdraft and Point Of No Return sounds cheap (to use Thor's description in another thread, see below), also in the synth parts actually (too midi-like I think), and also lack much of the power from the originals (like on Backdraft .. and why the best last 2 min is left out I don't know though)
However, one thing I was positively surprised with, is the Bird On A Wire track. That one is actually quite good, and that's with a comparison with the original ! Which is also perhaps a bit strange, since it's of the ones that doen't have that much (or any) obvious synth elements. But like always, nothing beats the originals.

No this was nothing of interest and deffinatly not better than any boot. The Real deal is muchmore prefered than doing something like this.
I do agree that Zimmer was at his best around early 90´s with Backdraft, Black Rain, Pacific Heights, Days of Thunder, Crimson Tides and Lion King
