Thanks a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed it and hopefully I can continue to deliver quality interviews. I do think part 2 of Richard's interview will not disappoint.
As for Settling the Score, I knew there were other film music podcasts obviously...but until today, when somebody tweeted about them, I had no idea there were so many! But mine has a book.

I'm nearly finished with the first part you have up.
I wanted to congratulate you on a very fun and natural feeling interview.
Band: (paraphrasing from memory) "We want a score like Star Wars. By the way we only have four dollars to do it."
That original composer, who did a score, on "Prison" was Ken Harrison. One of three or four scores he had tossed in his career.

Thanks so much. That means a lot. I do try and keep things natural and conversational. I have had nothing but positive experiences chatting with film music composers, whether it be for the Scored to Death book or the podcast. They have all been great and generous people.
Richard is also a perfect subject to interview, he has had a long career, he is incredibly intelligent and educated on the topic and super laid back, open and friendly. Can't ask for more than that. It also didn't hurt that, because of my doing the book, we have a few friends in common that can vouch for me. For example, Joseph Bishara was my middle man. He is the one that put me in touch with Richard.
As for Ken Harrison, ya hate to hear about scores getting tossed, but sadly it happens a lot. Harry Manfredini & Christopher Young, both talk about their experiences with it in their interviews in my book.

What a great resource. Thanks for sharing it. I will look it over and if I have anything to add that you haven't already covered, I will let you know....but it looks pretty darn thorough to me.

Right now, the plan is to post an episode every other week. So barring any unforeseen circumstances, Part 2 of Richard Band's interview should post on 02/15. But I'm happy to post it on this thread when it does.

I listed to the podcast on the way to and from work the other day and it kept me thoroughly entertained. I usually don’t get into podcasts too much; many that I’ve listened to sound a bit too self indulgent for my tastes. But this one was great. I look forward to hearing more.
On a more technical note, what do you use to record the interviews? I can take this question offline if you need to elaborate extensively. Lol

As for recording the interviews. Right now, they are all being done over Skype or FaceTime with varied sound quality results. So far, I've found that FaceTime to their iPhones (like with the first episode) sounds way better than Skype, but they all don't want to or can't use FaceTime. In a nutshell, I connect my laptop and a microphone to a zoom recorder & I also use a program called "Call Recorder" from a company called ecamm to record a back up. "Call Recorder" works well and is more than adequate for people that aren't exceptionally over paranoid about mishaps...like me. I just like the piece of mind of having two different recordings, in case something goes wrong with one method.

You mentioned another Podcast that you do. What is that one called ? I’d love to check that out as well.
Thanks. Richard's interview sounds especially good. I just did another interview via FaceTime last week, that also sounds very good. So I guess that's the best option.
My other podcast is called Saturday Night Movie Sleepovers, but it is not about film music. It is more of a light-hearted, informative & nostalgic show about movies. It is on iTunes and most other podcast providers.

I'm about 75% of the way into Part I of the LoDuca interview and once again I'm enjoying it. He's not quite as enjoyable frank as Band, but still entertaining nonetheless.
