...and what's your opinion of the Kritzerland, 'Two For The Road', Erik? ......For me, a release where the score masters, recorded at CTS London, were feared lost but a mono backup copy that survived has resulted in a sublime album of this wonderful score. Surely worth a nomination? Worthy indeed. But I didn't nominate it. Maybe if the re-recordings were separated from the archival releases I might have put it in the top five, but as Jon stated above, we need a minimum number of re-recordings to create a new category. Anyway, there are other criteria we have to evaluate as well. Liner notes, artwork, sound quality, etc. -Erik- For goodness sake they are NEW recordings not RE because more often than not they include music cues never recorded before! So you just cannot re-record something that has never been recorded before.! I have no objection to the lumping together of different genres...just get the terminology correct? Ps Maybe it might help if a few other labels put there hands in their pockets and did a few more NEW recordings to compete with Tadlow,

re: the soundtrack producer who doesn't care if he was nominated so he decides to post a diatribe to prove just how "little he cares": Maybe, he is a victim of ' Bernard Herrmann Syndrome'?

Better than being a victim of Mr. Marshall syndrome.

Let's forget Two for the Road for the time being. Let's talk about the unbelievable rescue by Chris Malone of A Place in the Sun and It's a Wonderful Life, let's talk about Summer and Smoke, let's talk about Two for the Seesaw, let's talk about the complete Carrie or Heaven Can Wait or Falling in Love or The Counterfeit Traitor, or Matessino's unbelievable restoration of David and Bathsheba and every other Fox score he's done for us, or or or. Not one of those had a nomination. I wonder why. Because none were deserving? Guess not. But we'll struggle on. Thankfully Roger Hall's site and The Second Disc, have all been lovely to Kritzerland and other labels.

I look forward to this list every year. There's always a few scores that I would have missed, but which I look up thanks to these nominations. For the record, I'm with those who thought Dunkirk was interesting, but not amazing. The buildup was effective as building tension, but the 'Home' payoff felt a bit cheap. Plus the main emotional core was of course pre-existing music, so I'm baffled by this score being nominated elsewhere. My favourite category is the 'film music composition of the year' because these are the only place where I can see recognition given for individual tracks of film score (the Grammys come close, but they often mix in other stuff). This year's nominees are a good bunch, although once again I feel that including a Star Wars End Credits track is cheating a bit (plus, the end credits weren't that great this time around IMO, especially that painful Leia diversion). Thanks to this category I got to look up and discover the 'Love' track from Boss Baby, which I would have missed completely otherwise. Keep up the good work!
