Please bear with me. Film Music is connected here. Saw the great Jack Jones in Concert this week. In his 80th year, and really suffering with a bad cold, he still managed to captivate a capacity audience for well over two hours. His Pianist was absolutely BRILLIANT. After some Movies Songs, : The Shadow of Your Smile from THE SANDPIPER, and two by Michel Legrand = From THE HAPPY ENDING and UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG, he introduced his Pianist as the "Next Michel Legrand" Glowing words indeed. Being at the back of the hall, I missed the surname, but he mentioned that he scored Films - Ears perked up then - and that his latest is Clint Eastwood's new Movie 15;17 TO PARIS. I must be really out of touch for I didn't know the movie or the Composer, but after some searching when I got home, I found he scored SULLY ON THE HUDSON as well. I must investigate more, for if his Scores are as good as Piano Playing, they will be brilliant I think he has some Jazz albums out as well, plus a album with Betty Buckley , who I saw many years ago in the London cast of Burt Bacharach / Hal David's PROMISES PROMISES. What I like about Film Music as such, is you never know who is going to turn up next . I may be getting on a bit, but the excitement of finding a new name now is the same as when I heard David Shire and Michel Colombier - just two examples - for the first time!
