Jóhann Jóhannsson, the Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-winning composer behind Sicario and Theory of Everything, died on Friday, his manager confirmed Saturday. He was 48 years old. The cause of death is unknown.
Jóhannsson is survived by his daughter, parents and sisters.
I didn't care for much of his music, but there's no denying he brought unique talent and a fresh musical vision to the world of film scoring. Damn, that sucks. Condolences to his family, friends, fans and professional collaborators.
Very sad news indeed I didn't know till last week, I don't own any of Johann's work yet, although now I've heard The Arrival & Sicario on You-tube there nice plucky scores & i will pick them up soon.
I have read about Johann's work on FSM & other sites, he was definitely established in America going places, its devastating being only 48 & maturing all the time.
