I, too, would love to hear what he composed for BR2049, if, for nothing else, to see how it stacks up against Zimmer's hastily put together (albeit, highly enjoyable) score. But I don't think we should hold our breath. We don't see many rejected scores released. Still waiting for Howard Shore's King Kong. But sometimes surprises come along, such as Shire's rejected score for Apocalypse Now.

Just watched 'Mary Magdalene' and 'Mandy'. What contrast. In the former, Johannsson reached a zenith in exalted, 'spiritual' writing. It's a 'biblical' score on par with many greats in the genre. Whereas in the completely zonked-out 'Mandy', he plumbs the depths of dark material with a vengeance. In his final outings, the sadly departed maestro has given us a full range of emotion from the pit of hell to the heights of heaven.
