I am only familiar with his Andrei Tarkovsky scores and like his score for Stalker and Solaris in particular. I actually consider Stalker to be his finest score and and it is some of the finest film music of all time.

Is someone here familiar with Artemyev's other film work? A top 5 non Tarkovsky film scores would be appreciated. I am also familiar with the theme to Siberiade.

I know that THE INNER CIRCLE was a fan favourite in the early 90s. Also remember talk about THE BARBER OF SEVILLA, BURNT BY THE SUN and THE ODYSSEY. But beyond those -- and the Tarkovsky stuff -- I've heard far too little Artemiev.

I can easily recommend URGA. It's a must have for sure.

Urga (1991) is indeed a lovely score. I have owned the CD for years. Produced by Steve Hillage, of all people.

I also liked his unreleased music for L'Autostop, also from 1991 and also directed by Urga's Nikita Mikhalkov.

His orchestral scores for Burnt By The Sun and As Far As My Feet Will Carry Me were less interesting for me. Inner Circle was OK, but I never picked up the CD.

The Barber of Siberia is great! Wonderful themes and a very romantic approach in all.

THE ODYSSEY (USA television movie with Armand Assante) has one of the top five love themes of all time.
Hard to find as it never received a domestic release.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will see what I can get to and find once I have the time. Something tells me that I will vastly prefer him in his electronic mode rather than orchestral.
