Personally, I have always felt the Rhino release sounded phenomenal. For years I knew it was the demo CD used at an audiophile stereo shop in Kingston, Ontario.

It's part of the reason I got so deeply into film scores and broadened my horizons beyond my John Williams obsession back in the mid to late 90s.

There are so much versions, I know few of them, my question was, as ryanpaquet have replied kindly, if someone have listened of some of the selection of this soundtrack that was released under so many labels, to know which label release sounds right , because some CDs that I have pointed sounds awful or have alternate material ...

The Rhino includes both the performances actually heard in the film as well as the alternate performances that were featured on the MGM "original soundtrack" release. I haven't heard all of those releases so it's hard to comment on relative sound quality, but Rhino was conscientious during its brief foray into the serious soundtrack market, and I'll bet it's at least among the best of them on that aspect. Also, I prefer having the actual music heard in the film, so it's a no-brainer for me.

The Rhino sounds better than the old CBS. I don't know much about subsequent releases, but I have never had a problem with sound on the Rhino.
