The quality of this restoration is like a miracle, considering the City Beneath the Sea carve-out damage and later the "melted candy bar" situation.
It's very lucky that the guy who bought it at auction in 1980 and then stored it improperly didn't give up hope when he found it had melted in his garage. He could have thrown it out then and there.
We should be thankful the 11-foot Enterprise model was never chopped up for a TV movie or stored in an oven-like garage.
