Apologies. I'm not interested in getting in trouble re: copyright infringement.

Deputy, sorry that I can't really react to these first episodes. We do have old threads where Cooper, Ron, others and I talked about episodes in the early 2000's. Can't say I remember the first episodes that well.

Anyway, I'll share a story. I tried to get into the show when it first came out, and I didn't like it. Fortunately, my brother sent me the first 3 seasons on VCR tapes. (yep, VCR in those days.) So I gave the show another chance, and I am so glad I did. Fell in love with the show and diligently watched it until it ended. I really grieved when it ended, but at least I had the Angel series to watch. I was bereft when Angel ended.

Anyway, hope you keep posting. If I remember things, I will respond.

Sounds great, Joan, post if/when you can! Always a welcome contribution to any thread. Thanks for your coming-of-Buffy-age story!

I think Spike said the best line in the whole series, after a fight when Giles almost gets killed.

Spike: Oh, poor Watcher. Did your life pass before your eyes? Cuppa tea, cuppa tea, almost got shagged, cuppa tea.

I saw the whole series again on Syfy last year in a sort of HD, a very odd waxy looking picture (I think it was an uprez). I did like season four with the Initiative & the modern Frankenstein, Adem, plus there's a lot of great stories in this season, & lots of Spike, as he loses his powers to kill.

I still have all my Angel DVDs, & am going to go through all those soon.

My favorite line from the show is kind of from out of nowhere:

Dawn (comes into Buffy's room): What are you doing?
Buffy (sitting on the bed, reading a magazine): Playing soccer.

So is my second favorite line:

Angel (arriving at the Bronze with Xander and Willow): "Let's look around. You guys check out downstairs."
Xander: "Sure thing, Bossy the Cow."

When I first started watching the VCR's of season 1, it took me a while to warm up to the series. I think it was this episode, ANGEL, that finally hooked me. Guess I'm a romantic at heart, and I wanted to see how Buffy and Angel's love story progressed. Later I got hooked on Buffy and Spike's love story.

Here is a bit of trivia. Charisa Carpenter first tried out for the part of Buffy, but she lost the part to
S. Gellar. She was offered the part of the snotty Cordelia, and she was perfect in that part. She was snotty and silly, but eventually the audience started to care a bit about her. Then she became the funny and caring warrior in the ANGEL series. It was fun to watch her evolution.

It really was! She had one of the best character arcs, even on solo Buffy, made a thousand times more interesting when she continued with Angel. Same with Wesley Wyndham-Price too, although I think his character was even more interesting because he went to some seriously dark places in Angel.

Thanks for your thoughts, Joan! Although I'm considering abandoning this thread. I know it's barely been up for long, but I don't feel like it's going to be of much interest to enough people for me to continue on with the many, many episodes. I absolutely don't mind posting the reviews (and participating in discussion), but unless it catches on rather quickly from here with anyone aside from one or two people, I may re-allocate the free time that I devote to it (however miniscule, but it adds up).

Maybe as the quality of the episodes and seasons increases, so too might the participation in this thread. I thought there'd be enough Buffy fans to populate the thread with relative ease, even for just quick comments if not discussion, but idk. I'll let it play out maybe to the end of Season 2 or something and see what happens.

I understand, DR. Our time is valuable. I too thought more people would dive into this topic. Hope more join in.

Well, again, the episodes I've posted so far -- as they are in order from the very beginning -- aren't all that great. We'll see if it picks up steam.

I just think the writers of the reviews are very entertaining and often pretty damn funny. I've always liked write-ups like these, where they create certain categories and ideas for each episode and supply their opinions (Best Line, Whose Chance to Shine, etc).

Haha! I love that moment! Such a random answer!! big grin

My favorite moment (I think. So many, lol) is in Doppelgangland where they think Willow is dead.
They are sitting in the library. Shocked.

Giles: She truly was the best of us
Xander: Way better than me
Giles: Much, much better...

I laugh every time I just think about that moment!

Also a moment in Hush, when Buffy and Willow are walking downtown watching all the chaos.
They see someone selling these boards where you can write messages on (since no one can speak) and they look at each other like "Geez, so lame. Someone's trying to make money out of this tragedy". Rolls eyes.
Next we see is them entering Giles' place with those boards hanging around their neck big grin

Awww bummer...I'm confused why you decided to delete your thoughts, Deputy. I'm rewatching the series as well and was looking forward to reading what you had written.
