Hit with such tragedy early in life. And I'm sure his life was extremely difficult for him and his care givers. Ironically it was science that kept him alive, far longer than he would've otherwise. He seemed to have a witty sense of humor too. RIP.
Very sad news, a great thinker and character. Managed to retain a sparkle in the eye despite all his privations. Condolences to family, friends and the human race.
It comes as a complete surprise, even though it shouldn't. RIP.
Edit: Although I have read A Brief History Of Time, I put more stock in God Created The Integers, which is less popular than the former though significantly closer to terrestrial stuff.
I saw him in person just once, at the Interstellar Live event, where I managed to snap one very out of focus digital photograph of him on stage in his well known motorised wheelchair. Kip Thorne was there too, and I wonder how he is assimilating this very bad news.
