I've had a promo of Söderqvist's score for some time (the film was a 2016 release in Norway, and one of our biggest commercial hits that year), and I must admit it didn't impress me much. And I'm usually a fan of almost everything he does (and I also know him personally). BUT....there are some great, individual tracks, so I'd be curious to hear how they conceptualized this; and how it differs from the promo.
Yeah, I think it's a good movie. Perhaps Lokutus expected more of an action-filled war movie, but it's really more intimate; more of a psychological drama about the dilemmas of and relationships between the royal family during the outbreak of the war in Norway. I think you'll need to have that in mind when you go into the film (even though it DOES have several action sequences).

That's true! Guess it kinda means more to us since we already know the stories being told and how it all played out.
Do we know if all of these will be CDs, or are some likely to be digital-only? (a few days ago was the first time I'd ever clicked on Quartet's Upcoming Releases link)
For me the Gaigne and Coulais scores will be the ones I will definitely buy. I will wait for samples to decide on more titles. I have only two scores by Velázquez, none from any of the other composers. I love the Spirou comic books, but I'm not sure these will translate well with real actors onto film.
But Gaigne and Coulais, you can't go wrong with those melodic geniuses.
MovieScore Media produces the albums for digital release and work together with Quartet on the CD versions which they produce, manufacture and distribute!
I've been listening to Super Furball on Spotify. That sounds Good! Quite a heroic theme and colorful writing with tenderness at times. Another winner from Panu Aaltio. I may pick that one up.
I'm interested in seeing how some of these come out. I enjoy some Velazquez and some Gaigne depending on the individual scores. Also glad that the Aaltio score is on Spotify already to stream. I enjoy some Coulais scores too so that one might be worth checking out. Not too familiar with the rest of the composers.
Are they all films from 2017, 18, some of the composers I know others I've never heard of, still, I'll check them all out, millennial films might not be my thing, but i can still unearth solid scores sometimes.
If you aren't familiar with Pascal Gaigne I suggest checking out his score to Los Manos de Mi Madre and Solisterrae both released from Quartet. They are two of my favorites and some of the most beautiful music in my library. I got a massage to both of them separate times and they work wonderfully for that.

Gaigne is great. I have lots of his scores. I recommend the RETROSPECTIVE compilation as a starter.
