After listening through this CD, I a strong compulsion to let people on this forum know about it. Schwartz, a longtime Hollywood orchestrator, jazz arranger and composer, has released a CD featuring 4 works for orchestra that are quite simply sumptuous. The richness of the harmonies and the way the melodies weave through the exquisite arrangements are simply breathtaking.

I know some forum members don't care for jazz but to the film score enthusiast from say late 70s through to late 80s (or ones who like Goldsmith's forays into jazz like Chinatown or LA Confidential, or Williams' seminal orchestral scores) this will be a welcome addition to their collection. Let me also add Dave Grusin and Lalo Schifrin to the mix as well insofar as evocations. Obviously it's easy enough to get a glimpse into this spellbinding work on iTunes with the previews but the works are expansive and deserve to be enjoyed in their entirety.

That's my 2 cents but I urge those who like really well written music for orchestra and an appetite for rich harmonies to check this out. They won't be disappointed.

I'm really excited to pick this up. Schwartz is, as some people may or may not know, Conrad Pope's wife, and she's collected a good number of accolades over the years for her arranging work for different artists - including some Grammy's, proudly displayed in their lovely home in Tarzana. I've only met Nan once or twice but she really seems like a great person in addition to having a marvelous talent for melody and orchestration.

Oodles of talent between that married couple there!

Excited to pick up the CD.

Yes indeed. Reading through her bio, it's an amazing one at that.

I liked the samples. Also enjoyed the samples for the other composer on the CD.

Don't care for the design of the website. It hides the track list, gives short samples (at least one title [I clicked around] didn't even have samples), and the cover art is so large that if you chose a category (I chose "orchestral"), you have to do way more scrolling than you should. Then of course one title had three options for purchase: CD, MP3 and something else, which a price range of "12.00 - 17.00"; I got an idea -- why not put the price beside each option? Why chose one to see the price?
