Director John (The Magnificent Seven) Sturges, helmed a few nifty entries in the film noir genre, including 1950's Mystery Street previously reviewed here http://thecinemacafe.com/the-cinema-treasure-hunter/2015/2/5/now-listen-to-me#Mystery-Street This CSI noir with a Hitchcockian twist can be checked out Saturday, April 14 at 9pm PST and again on Sunday, April 15 at 7am PST. Additionally, one can find this particular dark and treacherous "street" down noir expert Eddie Muller's Noir Alley: http://noiralley.tcm.com/

Quality control, Mr. Grant. Quality control.

It also appears that TCM is repeating itself to an alarming extent in rcent years. Too bad. They used to be great.

Why are you being so pedantic about something that should offend no one? Once anyone sees the "Attention U.S. TCM..." and the title of the film, if they are not interested can simply scroll past it. I have meticulously gone over the "Community Rules" regarding posts here and find there is nothing wrong with what I am doing and feel it is a service to alert people to some fine films on TCM. Some may wish to read my review, but no one is obligated to do so and if readers want to find out about the showtime information (if its not posted in my announcement as it is here) they can check the TCM schedule.

I dont have cable or whatever to watch TCM, and I've seen all the movies mentioned so far, but it's a good excuse to discuss the movie if anyone felt the urge. Some tangential aspects which I personally liked was seeing my home state Massachusetts depicted (we've got murder mysteries too, Hollywood!), and Ricardo Montalban. Revelation to see him in his early years before he retired to television. He was also good in another noir around the same time, "Border Incident."

You're right; excellent film directed by Anthony Mann.

Thanks, Arthur, for this and all your other TCM alerts. MYSTERY STREET may have run recently on TCM, but not on NOIR ALLEY, which made this weekend's showings special, as always in the ALLEY, by virtue of Mr. Muller's inimitable introduction and postlude. His intro's are unquestionably the best on the network; in depth, at length, painstakingly researched and illustrated, with a sense of humor to boot. I always tune in for them, whether I've seen the film a million times before or not at all. (And anyone who doesn't want to watch can always stick with "Saturday Night Live.")
