Heh! Yep, just nipped out to the car to listen to this as I work with philistines who wouldn’t necessarily appreciate this stupendous performance. The hanging dummy (I hope!) was a lovely macabre touch that I doubt the guardians of the Royal Albert Hall would allow! That was a previous conductor who did not do quite so well. For motivation.

These Danish vids popped up in my YouTube recommended page a few weeks ago -- and I immediately subscribed to the orchestra's channel after listening to a bunch of the selections. Absolutely wonderful and thrilling. Then other film music performances by symphonic orchestras started popping up to sample -- some of which were interesting like a Soviet performance of "The Magnificent Seven" by the St. Petersburg Philharmonia Orchestra which is paced very languidly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6O08vVSFles

Have to add the raves here. Wonderful renditions of Ennio's tunes. There is still a difference, maybe a slightly softer sound at times, but there's so much that is bang on it's truly impressive. And yes, better than the performances I heard some years ago at London's Barbican.

Perhaps the hanging figure was a certain maestro, gutted that some scandinavian oikes had copied his sound so authentically!!

YES! I have spent all my life going to concerts done by my favorite composers and they all had one thing in common. They all believed that the concert hall was a different animal and watered down their music to fit that medium. Yes, even though ironically, the actual concert music of the same time period was just as daring as the most daring film composers. In fact, many film composers used the contemporary avant-garde concert music as inspiration for their actual film scores, only to water them down to "easier on the ear for the uninitiated" level when it came to soundtrack recordings or concert hall performances. I mean, just listen to stuff by Nono or Stockhousen or Ligeti or Penderecki.... there's Penderecki stuff that sounds like pure horror-science fiction music.

Hello Great DVD Release. Conductor & Orchestra obviously have a true love of the music. All played with great energy and enthusiasm. And yes it sounds like Morricone! What is it about the good, the bad, and the ugly that always seems to make the performers smile? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLgJ7pk0X-s Regards CC
