A few years back, I alerted Frank Skinner fans to the existence of a newly recorded CD of some of his early dance band arrangements -- an art at which Skinner was a recognized master. Now Matt Tolentino of Dallas, Texas, leader of the Singapore Slingers, the ensemble which performed this music, has sent forth the following announcement:

Now for really exciting news - the Singapore Slingers have a new album coming out! Even more exciting is our collaboration with Rivermont Records - the premiere label when it comes to ragtime and traditional jazz. We couldn't be happier to be working with this great company. We will record in July, and the album will be available soon thereafter. Recording a full-length album is never easy, but you can help!

We have established a Go Fund Me link where you can help contribute to the project. Visit the link below to find out how you can help. Every little bit goes a long way towards making the album a reality. After four years, it's high time we rolled out a new album. We appreciate your support!

I wrote and asked Matt if the new collection would include more Skinner material, and he replied:

"The contents will be 22 tracks - our largest 'playlist' on a CD yet to date. There will certainly be more Skinner arrangements - he did some of the very best. There will be hot jazz numbers, ballads and standards, plus a tango and a rhumba for variety's sake, as well as a couple of ragtime numbers. It will be a varied mix, all within our chronological frame. It will be our best one, yet!"
