jeh, I think book shops stock the writers and artists handbook each year that has lists of UK agents and what they'll accept and when. Otherwise that's good advice from everyone else.

The book was waiting for me at home - an interesting premise as described on the back cover and I’ll be cracking it open tonight...

I’m not going to give a running commentary, but let it be known that I read the first 40 pages or so last night and was engaged right from the outset. I’m looking forward to seeing how it develops. I will report back when I’ve finished it, but....

So far, so good!

I can write this with some relief, because it’s easy to praise Jehannum’s book. It’s a good story and seemed very original to me - I’m a fan of science fiction but not an inveterate one, so I don’t know if there’s a plethora of books set in the future gaming world. The characters were engaging, the style clear and pictorial. Not everything was spoon fed, and the villain was suitably threatening. Decent twist near the end. I used to read Robert Sheckley and got a similar feeling from this.

I’m surprised it couldn’t find a publisher - I enjoyed it more than a number of books that I’ve read down the years, a few of which have been flung across the room for being bad, boring or both. Happily, Jeh’s novel was neither. One or two parts aren’t for the very squeamish. I like that.

Glad you liked it, TG. Praise from such a discerning chap as yourself is very nice to hear. For instance I was pretty sure you'd notice that "not everything was spoon fed". smile

I know you well enough to have expected that. I stopped watching "The Dome" as soon as they had the main character say "When you set out for revenge, first dig two graves. One for him and one for you."

On the subject of publication, you need to get yourself on some reality or game show or become well known or notorious in some other field. It seems to me that deserving unknowns such as yourself are blocked by people like Alan Titchmarsh and god help us Katie Price, whose meanderings seem to find an audience regardless of quality.

Meant to say that I smiled at the appearance of your favourite naughty word.
