I saw it first run in 1968 in 70 MM on San Jose California's Biggest Cinerama Screen at the Century 21 Dome Theater. I was 11 years old. Saw it with my sister and cousin who were both 16. It truly blew us all away.

I can remember distinctly seeing Huge Huge Card Board Displays of ICE STATION ZEBRA and THE SHOES OF THE FISHERMAN literally filling the Theater Lobby. I guess MGM really bought up that particular Theater for that Movie Season. Got the Program of 2001 and soon bought the Soundtrack LP, the very very First Soundtrack I ever bought in my life. Also got the great model of the Pan Am Space Clipper. Wish I still had that. Still have the LP Soundtrack and Movie Program!

Great Great Memories!

That trailer is all over the map. The beginning dialog heavy and making the film look like a thriller. Then the synth Also Sprach Zarathustra at the end. The film still looks amazing though!

That trailer has had a lot of comment online about the horrible greeny colour of it (& I've put in my tuppence worth as well), will the new Blu-ray (when it finally appears, could be the end of the year) be the same colour?

Would you like your movie with real teal or fake teal?

I would actually like it without any teal whatsoever.

I'm afraid that's not going to be possible, sir. Don't you just love teal?

I should've noticed that. I sure hope the color was only messed with in the trailer. But once again it shows how brain dead Hollywood is.

I've heard it's the blue ray that does that.

Maybe all the VFX will be "Lucased" CGI with lots of foreground critters upstaging the action? While at it, let's also "punch up" the editing with lots of shaky-cam and quick cuts for those ADD members of the audience. "It's too slow and boring!" I hear there may be a pod race added to the Tycho scene.

This would be a travesty if true.

It's only true for flatworlders. The laser transmits digital information, and can't add a hue like using a blue bulb in a movie projector. But try telling them that. wink
