One score I forgot to put on my list of DO NOT HAVES: Something Wicked This Way Comes. Any good (considering what I told you I liked in my original post)?

Yes, but considering your list, I wouldn't recommend it to you.

Other than the opening theme, It's very dull and forgettable.

Choke!...Splutter!!....What???!!!!
I love this score soooooo much! I was almost crying tears of joy when Intrada announced its release.
It might be also due to my deep affection for the film but I find it a perfect dark, masterful, evocative work from Mr Horner. From the driving main title to the beautiful playful autumn feeling of the 'boys' theme and then that cue for 'The Library' sequence! Seldom has a score conjured such magic and painted a picture for me as this one.

All I got out of it was a 28 minute playlist and give it two out of five stars in iTunes.

Main Title
Dark’s Pandemonium Carnival
Miss Foley In The Mirror
The Boys Buy A Lightning Rod
Discovered
Magic Window
End Titles.

I was going to say it sounds like watered down Krull and interesting enough both came out the same year! Just not my cup of tea I guess.

I'm recommending "House of Cards" as I just finished listening to it again, after a long break of constantly playing it.

It's a terrific lesser known score by Horner. Love it!

Well folks, I have been listening to Project X all day. It is not in his Top Ten by any means. That said, it is nowhere his Bottom 10 either. Overall, I have been enjoying it and definitely feel it was worth the purchase.

I plan on getting a new Horner every month until I run out of good ones to buy. Life Before Her Eyes, Where the River Runs Black and Freedom Song etc. will only be bought if I decide to get his every score.

First of all, I am BIG Horner fan. I have many of his CDs. But the other day, I wrote down all the Horners that I don't have. I was stunned how long the list was!

But before I list them, I want to say:

My favorite Horner scores are

1. Legends of the Fall
2. The Land Before Time
3. Glory
4. The Mask of Zorro
5. For Greater Glory
6. Willow

All of these are sweeping, melodic, full-body scores.

But I also like
1. Dad
2. Searching for Bobby Fischer
3. The Man without a Face

All of these are quiet, pretty, melancholic, and melodic.

So in other words, melody is very, very important to me.

Below is the list of ones that I do not have. As you look at the list and consider what I like, do you see a MUST HAVE?

Life Before Her Eyes
Red Heat
Brainstorm
Name of the Rose
Jack the Bear
Chumscrubber
Beyond Borders
Testament
Where the River Runs Black
Freedom Song
Journey of Natty Gann
In Country
Jade
Project X
Rascals and Robbers
Apocaypto
Wolfen
Boy in the Striped Pajamas
Humanoids for the Deep
Flightplan
48 Hours
Another 48 Hours
The Magnificent Seven
Battle Beyond the Stars
Commando
Gorky Park
Once Around
Bobby Jones
The New World
Black Gold
The Forgotten
The 33
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
House of Cards
How the Grinch Stole Christmas

So........... here we are almost 2 years later and I wanted to tell you all what I bought since we discussed this. I bought one Horner a month and that means I now have 20 new Horner scores. I stopped at 20 because its a nice round number and the last one I bought was for December. With 2020, I will start a new composer to collect one a month. (That composer is Goldsmith and I will start a new thread on that soon.)

Here are the only Horners I still do not own.

Life Before Her Eyes
Chumscrubber
Where the River Runs Black
Testament
Freedom Song
Rascals and Robbers
Jade
Apocalypto
Flightplan
48 Hours
Another 48 Hours
Magnificent Seven
Commando
Gorky Park
Bobby Jones
The 33
How the Grinch Stole Christmas

I'll buy them someday if I ever decide to become a completist. The only one I didn't get that I think I know I would like for sure The 33.

That’s great, but how on earth have you avoided getting Boy in the Striped Pajamas? By far my warmest recommendation of the ones you didn’t already have!

Southpaw, didn’t think much of it when I got it but decided to try it again. A beautiful score for a small film. Love track 10 “A long road back”.

I did get it. I have ALL the Horners except the few listed above. Its a nice score, but not in my Top 10 Horners.

I have these already. The only ones I don't have are listed above. Krull is kinda overrated IMHO. Project X is a nice score. But Brainstorm is easily the best of the three you mentioned.

I have it and honestly didn't care much for it at all.
