If i'm not mistaken, Craig Safan's brother Mark Safan sang 'Win in the End' on the Teen Wolf soundtrack, so there's a possible musical connection.

How about Hoosiers? I know Joel Goldsmith has a producer-credit, perhaps they found some synth-work?

The source music could be some of the bigband-work.

It won't be a Goldsmith. I doubt anything would have come from his own personal tapes.

I guess you're right. The only other composer I can think off the would have had a 'family member' contributed to a score, is Poledouris. But none of his works apply as well.

The stereo tapes for Rio Lobo (Prometheus) were provided by Goldsmith from his personal collection, according to the CD notes.

Someone has already mentioned the title in this thread.

I think I know what you mean! Not the family member I was expecting smile. What a wonderful release! Might finally be worth the upgrade.

I won't say the title; I'm afraid I might jinx it. wink

Then I'll say it: it must be Space Camp. Again.

Joseph Williams (son of John) contributed 2 or 3 songs for the movie, if I remember correctly.

Doug adds…

... First issued over ten years ago...

So it initially came out before 2008?

So?
Broughton's Lost in Space MAF version was (and still is) available when the complete edition came out.

I must mention it's really cool to read such interesting responses. You folks stay very well informed with this music and these composers and it really does help make the often high costs and frequent headaches in producing the albums for you a pleasant experience. As Roger mentions, this current release does indeed greatly improve on the previous version, primarily in correcting pitch issues caused by the original studio mixes going from digital through analog down to the composer and in roundabout fashion being further transferred for us, creating inconsistencies in pitch somewhere along the way. Happily having for the first time the actual first generation studio source masters now let us address the pitch errors as well as add some (really trivial) extras.

Anyway, I sincerely thank you for helping keep all of this alive! Now I turn you back over to Roger.

Wasn't the Intrada release of KING SOLOMON'S MINES completely at the wrong pitch ??
And the 'first release' clue relates to the original Milan-CD from 1985(86 ?)

I think calling SpaceCamp a "(mostly) action score" or "action score" (depending on your read of things) is a big stretch.

I think the SpaceCamp OST is only missing a tiny bit of actual score. I'd love a fresh pass with any available new material, though.

HOOSIERS had some anomalies from what I remember, but I wouldn't say it's an action score. hmm...BABY sounds likely but the original release did say "from the studio vaults" if I remember.

Both Baby and Hoosiers came from the digital masters from the recording session -- I checked. I'm pretty sure the Quartet release of King Solomon's Mines too.

Doug adds…

Next on our docket for new CD releases is actually a revisit… but only of sorts. First issued over ten years ago and a fast sell-out, we’ve completely remastered it for the first time from studio vault elements. While our earlier release technically came from studio masters, it actually was a mix-down from digital formats, then hastily copied over to 1/4” analog tape for the composer who later re-copied it back to a DAT and then eventually copied it again over to us. Somewhere along the way, this resulted in pitch issues amongst other anomalies. Everything now comes from studio-vaulted first generation session multi-tracks and arrives for your enjoyment on CD this coming Tuesday, May 15. We’re even premiering a couple of source cues conducted by the composer at his sessions as well as some minor contributions from one of his family members. Golly! Sound samples, artwork and contents should appear here early Monday evening prior. It’s a great one if you love action, especially remastered.

I'm still stumped.

Re-reading the liner notes for Intrada's release of Remo Williams, this is EXACTLY how that recording is described in the Tech Notes Doug writes for nearly every issue. Perseverance issued its version in 2006, so over ten years ago. So I think that's still a pretty spot on guess.

When in doubt, choose the Goldsmith title. Certainly won't be some under-represented composer.
