Happy Birthday, Burt Bacharach! I saw Bacharach in 1970 at the Muny Opera in St. Louis. One of the greats. To Martin's point: I agree, in general, and I hate to say it. I grew up in the 60s on Barry, Goldsmith, Bacharach, Schifrin, Mancini, North, Quincy, and others . . . and had to put up with older fans saying "Rozsa, Herrmann, Waxman, Korngold . . . where are their equivalent today?" My point is that I am aware of the generational differences and look for the next Herrmann or Jarre; I hear talent in the younger composers, but I'm wondering if there any film music giants among them. Are there?
