Not to make light of your mobile phone losses, Thor, but aren't you Telenor (Mobile)'s biggest customer? I remember hearing stories of you losing your phone, having it stolen or dropping the thing in a beer, all in bars over the years?
Ha, ha....I very well could be.
I've lost two phones in bars (one was stolen OUT OF MY FRIGGIN' JEANS POCKET in a bar in Barcelona, the other here in Oslo), and a couple of others in other circumstances. Then they've been used to make expensive, long-distance calls by whoever stole them.
I've also lost several credit cards in addition to those that have been abused.
I'm either very unlucky or very scatterbrained.
Ouch; I had my phone stolen in 2016 in Cape Town, fortunately, I noticed it right away and changed all access codes. So I bought a new phone... and had to exchange that because there was a sensor issue. So I owned three different phones in 2016. Fortunatley, I did not have to get another phone since. My mobile doubles as a Master Card and I do online banking with it (in fact, I access Film Score Monthly with it, too... I do just about most computer stuff with a smartphone these days). Would be a great loss to lose it, though my phone is security locked, so even if somebody steals it, they won't be able to use it (right away at least).
Fortunately, I never had my credit card compromised so far, but I check my monthly credit card statements. American Express and Master Card both notify me more or less immediatly (on my smart phone) if a purchase is made, American Express takes literally no more than a second or two.
By now, I use Paypal a lot for anything I order online.

I don't believe in credit cards, so no....I've never had this problem!
So how do you pay for things in this day and age? How do you get cash? Are there even physical banks anymore where you can go and withdraw money by showing a driver's licence or something?
Speaking of which I recently joined a credit union. I went inside to deposit a check. I was greeted by a living person but directed to a monitor set in the wall. On the monitor was a clerk, could only see his face who chatted with me remotely from who knows where. No seats I had to stand facing the wall and type in information and stick my check into a little slot. Very cold transaction, dystopian like.
