I keep wondering if I should simply wait for a reissue, but this is a definite hole in my collection.

Also looking for:

Keys of the Kingdom (Alfred Newman/SAE cd, not the Tsunami please)

Stop looking for the old Varèse Sarabande CD of Dracula, it's a piece of crap.

The vinyl sounds better than it.

Join a forum dedicated to the composer of this work.... and make some searches... see you! wink

I agree- just get the album on vinyl for not much $. Wait for reissue on CD.

And while we're bossing you around, reword your thread title to "In Search of Dracula (JW)" It'll make you look clever since there was a book with that title (without the JW).

Hi Mark, that's AWESOME! Alfred is my favorite film composer.

But please forgive me, as I can't find your email address frown

We just say previously that the sound quality of this CD is awefull. Don't pay for that, wait for a future release. I just digitally restored a UK pressing in excellent condition, wow! So far better than the CD.

Thanks so much, I've heard that about the CD quite a few times. However, I'm still really grateful for the offer Nevison!

Actually, I had quite a few respected members here tell me how below par the sound is, so I'm going to wait.

Many thanks for all the help from everyone!

A very wise decision. Better to get a skillful transfer of an LP. In any case, I'm confident that sooner or later a reissue will happen.

Cripes....all youse guys going on about the LP...it sounds as bad as the cd!!! Good luck finding a decent, clean pressing now. For further proof, locate the old Cinemascore review, at the time of the initial release. The reviewer states he had to go through SEVERAL copies to find a mediocre pressing. I've never forgotten that. So, finding a decent copy or even a good LP transfer, 40 years later??? Not possible.
If pressed, and theres interest, I'll pull the issue I referenced and quote it....I just couldn't take any more recs. HATED this score based on first hearing it in the 80s via an aforementioned rotten pressing. The hiss outshines the LSO!!!
