I already Own the previous sets with the DVD-A. Do I really need to buy these again just because of the Blu ray?
I guess you need to ask yourself how many times did you play the DVD? I never had the sets and was unwilling to pay the extortionate prices, I now own the first two sets and have pre-ordered the 3rd set, mainly for the CD’s. Will I play the Blu rays as often as the CD’s, probably not.

In that case can I have the blu ray discs only?
I opened myself to your response.
I would be happy to oblige, they will get spins at least once a year on lazy Autumn Sunday afternoons with leaves falling outside, the wind hitting the window, dusk approaching and LOTR’s playing in the backdrop.

You and I ought to get married. Preferably in Middle-earth, but Iceland will do as well.
It's another "issue" with scratched discs made in Mexico i discovered this month. Previous one was about The Mummy (Intrada release).
So what the hell is going on with these factories???! We pay a lot of money to get $h!t like this?! Already dameged?!!
Unbelievable!
Same here. I ordered Fellowship Blu/3CD from Best Buy and found that 1 of the CD's were scratched pretty bad and even the Blu-ray had two good scratches on it. I sent it back for refund and re-ordered thru Amazon was A-ok.
Same with the TT. Ordered thru Walmart and dics 3 had so many scratches on it I got pretty upset I had to send it back for refund. Got it thru Amazon and was a-ok.
I fully expect this to happen with Return as well. How in the h*ll does this happen!! Where is the quality control???
I don't think you can draw any conclusions about which retailers received scratched discs. Nor can you make assumptions about which retailers will receive a scratched disc for a future release.
I purchased FOTR and TTT from Best Buy and both sets are in pristine condition.
I purchased FOTR from Best Buy online and it came in a cardboard box--price was about $70. TTT was purchased from Target online and it came in a cheap bag--price was about $60.
TTT was in good shape, fortunately, though there were a few minor dings on the cover owing to the cheap packing. No marks on any of the discs.
Same with FOTR, which has been getting a lot more spins than TTT, despite the former being newer. There is a certain momentum to FOTR that TTT lacks--not to say that TTT isn't a fantastic score. It just doesn't play as well on album, IMO.

I don't. But I'm hoping for the best with Amazon for ROTK. If it comes to me scratched, I won't be happy, but I will return for replacement.
