Bill, if you only know and like Robbie, while not caring for or not even having heard (of) John, you will be cast into the pit of the musically conservative, to be spat on from above by Jim Phelps and OnyBirri. Loved what Coltrane did. He was the dude, man. He really was. I called him "John", and he said, "Yeah buddy, first name terms here. We don't like no formality in form. Not in form of manner of musical form. Can you dig it"? I met the other Coltrane at a jazz bar in Glasgow (yes, he's a jazz fan, and that's why he changed his surname). I sidled up to him at the bar and said that I enjoyed his Tootie Frootie (sp?) TV series, then popular. He said, "Thanks, ah'd buy ye a pint, but ah cannae stand that jazz shite. Wiz ma managers' idea. Dunderheid. Ah'm aff".
