The new trailer looks kind of cute, especially the mating ritual. Powell again will score the movie. Don't know if this series has worn out its welcome or not, or if Powell will add new thematic material to his previous scores. I'm sure old themes will be revisited, and I hope he adds new material and themes to this movie.
I guess he doesn't have the beard until the end of the film. Wish he had it for most of the film. I love how they're showing a character age over time. It's unprecedented in animated entertainment like this.
I was really disappointed by the last film, so hope this is a step back in the right direction.
I thought both scores were equally strong by Powell. I seriously need to check out the TV series at some point too.
The animation and score for Dragon's 2 were spectacular. The story treatment was a mistake. I just can't forgive a mother for abandoning her family to become a dragon zoo keeper. it could've easily been fixed by making her a captive of the villain for all those years.
Not sure how I feel about Dragon 3: Journey to Pandora.

Sequels are sometimes not as great as the original. I loved the first one. I "liked" the second one, but the original continues to be my favorite. Hope the third one is a good movie with a great score.

The original was in a whole other league altogether if you ask me. I've yet to find one kid yet who knows the film and didn't guess "Test Drive" was from it. Impressive.
My daughter told me that she had seen the trailer and it looked wonderful. This series has become somewhat of a family tradition with us and we're pretty excited. Another John Powell score? Wonderful!
I notice that they indicated "the conclusion" which I think is very appropriate. I loved the beard as well and believe the characters have aged perfectly through each movie.
The characters all look exactly the same as in the second film, with the exception of one trailer shot that shows a bearded Hiccup. So they must be only slightly older than they were in that film?

During the production of the second film the director said he was making a "Trilogy". The second film was supposed to be darker and serious like "SW:TESB. So There shouldn't be a long time laps between two and three. Though the previews for Dragon 3, don't indicate a continuation of Dragon 2.
As far as this being the end? I don't think that's really their plan. If they could do 20 HTTYD films they would. But the last film under-performed so perhaps they're thinking the box office won't merit additional sequels.

Agreed. Not all sequels are disappointments of course, but I wish there were more fresh material being produced, instead of the box office being dominated by franchises.
