TUESDAY, JUNE 12

TOM CLANCY'S JACK RYAN---new trailer released for the Amazon series starring John Krasinski (A QUIET PLACE).

Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KsyZF590NM

BERMUDA TRIANGLE---Ryan Reynolds stars in this Sam Raimi movie about a physicist who teams up with a female submarine commander to open a womhole in the Bermuda Triangle to search for a missing nuclear-armed submarine. They discover a mysterious island inhabited by those who disappeared in the Triangle including Nazis, Vikings and sharks.

RED NOTICE---Gal Gadot will co-star with Dwayne Johnson in this action comedy with Johnson playing an INTERPOL agent. Gadot will play a brilliant, but mysterious figure in the art world. Chris Pratt is rumored to be the third lead star in the movie.

HOWARD THE DUCK---Lea Thompson said she will be discussing a remake of the failed 1986 movie with Marvel Studios, "... I am going to Marvel to pitch HOWARD THE DUCK, a new movie...In like three weeks. I want to direct the HOWARD THE DUCK remake [laughs]. Why not dream big, right?" Howard had two brief appearances in the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY movies.

ARACHNOPHOBIA---remake underway of the 1990 comedy horror movie about giant spiders that starred Jeff Daniels and John Goodman. James Wan is the producer.

GAME OF THRONES---George RR Martin commented on the prequel pilot, “Yes, this is a prequel, not a sequel. None of the characters or actors from GAME OF THRONES will appear in the new show. All of the successor shows we’ve been developing have been prequels, as I have mentioned before. This one really puts the PRE in prequel, since it is set not ninety years before GAME OF THRONES (like Dunk & Egg), or a few hundred years, but rather ten thousand years (well, assuming the oral histories of the First Men are accurate, but there are maesters at the Citadel who insist it has only been half that long). We’re very early in the process, of course, with the pilot order just in, so we don’t have a director yet, or a cast, or a location, or even a title. (My vote would be THE LONG NIGHT, which says it all, but I’d be surprised if that’s where we end up. More likely HBO will want to work the phrase “game of thrones” in there somewhere. We’ll know sooner or later).”
He also discussed the other spinoff series, “As for the other successor shows…if you have been following along, you know that we started with four, and eventually went to five. One of those has been shelved, I am given to understand, and of course Jane’s [Goldman] pilot is now moving to film. But that does not mean the others are dead. Three more GAME OF THRONES prequels, set in different periods and featuring different characters and storylines, remain in active development. Everything I am told indicates that we could film at least one more pilot, and maybe more than one, in the years to come. We do have an entire world and tens of thousands of years of history to play with, after all. But this is television, so nothing is certain.”

DEADWOOD---Kim Dickens commented on the status of the HBO movie, "Well, I’ll tell you, next up, looks like all signs are go to do the DEADWOOD movie this fall. I’m not giving an official release on this or anything, but yeah, they’re locking us down."

LUCIFER---Amazon Studios is in talks to pick up the cancelled Fox series.

LOONEY TUNES---Warner Bros. Animation is developing new Looney Tunes cartoon shorts. Each one will last 1-6 minutes. The first is "The Curse of the Monkey Bird" featuring Daffy Duck and Porky Pig.

THE VERY EXCELLENT MR. DUNDEE---Paul Hogan plays himself in this movie in which he is about to be knighted, but then his reputation is destroyed.

AEON FLUX---MTV live-action tv series underway based on the animated tv series. The 2005 movie version starred Charlize Theron.

LITTLE BEE---Julia Roberts stars in this Amazon Studios movie based on the novel about young Nigerian refugee girl and a British magazine editor.

TRIVIA---the body count for WHERE EAGLES DARE is 100 dead German soldiers.

Clint Eastwood (Schaffer)--73 (five shared with Richard Burton and 10 shared with Mary Ure).
Richard Burton (Smith)---26 (five shared with Eastwood)
Mary Ure (Mary)---12 (10 shared with Eastwood)

Oh come on...the original was great fun, a goofy movie with creepy crawlies that also generated some good suspense . Why , why, why ? eek

With Wan as producer maybe it'll go to straight horror? Meh.

Reminds me of the very short-lived 70's TV show Fantastic Journey.

I disagree with the Where eagles Dare Eastwood figures.
Somebody has embellished them!
I counted during a screening once - and included germans who blew up from the timed bombs theyd left and it wasnt anything like 70 odd.
It was around 47 - more than stallone in rambo II.

I am one of the few who actually defends remakes. Well, the reason is quite simple. You see the main reason why remakes is not a bad thing is because those can make people discover the original one. Let me put it like this: When Steven Soderbergh was making the remake of Ocean`s Eleven I got curious about the original one. Thanks to Steven Soderbergh and his remake I have seen the original version and I honestly would not seek out the original if he had not made the remake.

So remakes is a perfect solution to make a younger audience to discover and perhaps appreciate the original movie so there you have my arguments why I don`t dislike the idea of making remakes.

Ryan Reynolds is maybe not the right choice to play an esteemed physicist.

And if they're remaking Howard the Duck they should damn well introduce him opposite Rocket Raccoon in GOTG 3 first.

And Arachnophobia is still a hoot. There are plenty of movies that could benefit more from remakes than this one.

I'm with Warlok, spiders are terrifying. Arachnophobia was a great film. I'll pribablt watch a remake on Tv from behind a couch.

I misread the Ryan Reynolds film as their task was to "open a Womble". If Raimi is directing it has a chance to be more fun than if he's just producing. I used to love the old Doug McClure v Nazis v Dinosaurs films.

Good news on Deadwood. Should send LeHah into a happy space.

Very lucky for Burton & Co. that the Germans seemed to be firing blanks.

Actually I think it's a great film, up until the firing starts, it then gets really stupid.

Still doesn’t add up. Say all Clint’s count regardless of assists, then you get this:

73 + (26 - 5) + (12 - 10) = 96

Or to look at it another way

73 + 21 + 2 = 96

Simples!
