As an American, I absolutely dispise the leading chocolate bar here, Hershey's. Far too sweet and containing a taste that's vaguely sickening, like vomit. The Cadbury Chocolates manufactured here in The U.S. are better, yet they're still just-too-sweet! Whereas Cadbury Chocolates manufactured in England are 'just right', pure bliss, and have the perfect balance of milk and sugar. I love my Cadbury 'FLAKE', made in The U.K; you bite it, and it falls to pieces all over your front, but it doesn't matter..the taste is extraordinary. Americans - couch potatoes all - are simply complacent with..a Hershey's Bar.

I'm in the UK and adore Cadburys. There is a huge choice of Cadburys products over here. The only problem is, because it comes in a greater quantity than Hersheys, it's fattening and bloody addictive.
I used to wolf down a 200g bar and thought little of it. I had to stop that!
You do realise somebody will now post the old UK flake adverts??!!
Are they truly awful adverts? Since Americans don't even know what a 'Cadbury Flake' is, they've never seen an advert. I (personally) miss Cadbury Milk Chocolate with Brazil Nuts. Have you ever had a Kit-Kat, NOT made in The U.S.? Really good!

Well played, Bill!
As I understand it, since Kraft acquired Cadbury’s they’ve reduced the cocoa content and replaced it with palm oil. 1980s bath lady probably wouldn’t want to ravage it any more.
No ex-pat stores near me. I do see that Amazon sells Cadbury Flakes.
I still get the occasional 'mercy pack' from one of my former flat-mates in Edinburgh. Cadbury Flake, Malteeser's, and Jelly's for making (Jell-O). When I lived in New York, I'd get them from 'Meyer's of Keswick' (still open) the best imported English Food store in New York and it's in the center of The Village. Also, 'Fairway' around 72nd Street on The Upper West Side has a lot of imported British Foods and Sweets. But Joan, you're in Eastern Washington, maybe in Seattle; and yes I know Seattle's on Puget Sound in The West.
I love Hershey chocolate and I don't care who hates me for it.
Former denizen of the board and hugely missed CAT (Cindy) would occasionally send me some Hershey’s chocolate all the way across the Atlantic. It must travel well, because I relished it.
Ladees sending you chocolate, TG??! MissusTallguy mustve been jealous. Or she mugged the postman. "Your american girlfriend sent you some chocolate crumbs in a wrapper, weird!"

One of the greatest simple pleasures I know is a Hershey (especially with almonds) candy bar. I've eaten plenty of European chocolate, and it is often delightful, but there's something about Hershey that is uniquely wonderful--and I do not share Monty Dave's bizarre, entirely subjective description of said Hershey's.
I'll go and buy a Hershey bar today.
I agree with Monty Dave on EuroKitKat, though; it's superior to its American counterpart by far.
