I think this show had the best scoring on television, at the time. (Bear McCreary maybe tied it with Outlander, which is still going of course.)
I too get annoyed at having TV scores out of order...McCreary's own amazing music for Human Target is a great case in point. It's all a shuffled jumble on album, even though the cues are great.
I loved the series and really enjoyed the music in the show. I dont have the Cds but me even noticing modern scoring is quite an achievement- so it must be good. I think the style was a slice of horror throwback so that's probably why i was aware of it.
^ It really is! And all the cues gets better with each listen. Once you get to know the different themes etc it`s an amazing experience going through the albums. Only, I now want the cues in chronological order loL!
I haven`t checked, but I sincerley hope Abel earned himself an Emmy (or 3) for his work on this show. If not, there`s something seriously wrong!
Absolutely one of my favorite scores of the past few years...it's just really, really gorgeous stuff...wish Korzeniowski had more output...almost everything he scores is an insta-purchase for me). He follow-up album of music from seasons 2-3 is also great and the two albums together are really fabulous, dark, gothic, romantic, tragic. I had heard recently that some TV studio was doing an adaption of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles (I could be mistaken...it was earlier this year I saw it) and I instantly thought of Korzeniowski...it would be a great project for his sensibilities.
Composer’s choice and of course he’s the most important but..strange choices on the album tracks a bit. The whole end of the series stuff isn’t there which I was really disappointed in. There’s always moments that fans want that you never get but that whole last section not only summed up the series but seemed to musically as well. Ah well.....
I was really bummed when that final cue wasn't on the soundtrack! Quite a weird choice indeed. I did find it as a 5.1 rip and very clean luckily so I have added it to the soundtrack
